Over Father’s Day I was going through some old video clips and I thought I’d share this with you all. This past Christmas I bought my son his first laptop. He was always messing with mine, so I thought he needed his own. It’s funny when he tries to mimic me and I hope he keeps it up. My mother-in-law got a picture of us on the couch working on our computers. That’s my boy! :)

Here’s an email I received from my brother in Christ Kyle:

1 JOHN 2:15

John writes, ‘Do not love the world.’ But what does that mean? First, let’s look at what it doesn’t mean. It doesn’t mean being so holy that you live on another planet. Loving the Lord more doesn’t mean loving those around you less; or feeling awkward around them; or losing touch with them; or not knowing how to talk to them; or getting their backs up because they’re not as ‘holy’ as you.

If ‘we have the mind of Christ’ (1 Corinthians 2:16) shouldn’t we be as attractive to a lost world as Jesus was? As the world of finance, politics, education and entertainment, etc gets more off track, we have two choices: condemn it or influence it! Become what we’re supposed to be, light! It’s the end of the game and Jesus, the Manager head coach, is calling His best players onto the field. Isaiah the prophet spoke into the lives of kings. The three Hebrew children changed the politics of Babylon. Joseph the economist saved Egypt from famine.

Yes, satan is at work taking Christ out of Christmas, prayer out of schools, and God out of government. But he won’t win, and he knows it. His strategy, however, is to convince you that he can win. He doesn’t want you to see the real battle between light and darkness. He doesn’t want you to feel a sense of urgency and personal responsibility. But the God who promised to ‘crush satan under your feet’ is raising up a generation of spirit-empowered believers who will demonstrate what it’s like to live in a different kingdom. Are you part of it?

I finally got around to seeing Blood Diamonds and it was a really good. I can see why it was nominated for an Oscar. The things that went on in Sierra Leone was horrible and it made me think about what I’d do in the same situation. The random killings, families split apart, a nation against itself. All over money and our need for more bling.

I really liked the storyline that focused on a desperate father putting his life on the line to find his son and have his family together again. I would do the same thing. That’s love at it’s highest form. The worst thing is what the RUF did to the young boys. They were brainwashing kids with no family and no hope and making them the next generation of killers. It’s hard to believe something like this happened and still may be happening in other parts of the world.

I feel blessed that my family doesn’t have to endure what they have. We have so many freedoms that we don’t appreciate and take for granted on a daily basis. From what I’ve read there’s peace, but I’m sure the problem has moved elsewhere. I say I want to help, but don’t know how. So I guess I’ll get back to my life and continue on with things as they are. Isn’t that what we all do? Frustrating isn’t it?

I was sitting watching Star Wars Episode IV and V on HBO and wondered if the Force would prevail if they had to use gas in their ships. It took me $40 to fill up my Accord!!! How much would it cost to get the Millenium Falcon going? And let’s not even mention flying in hyperspeed!!! Luke flying all over the place willy-nilly. They’d have to gas up every 10 minutes. The movie probably wouldn’t be so good then.
