Thanks to Kyle for sending this to me.

1 THESSALONIANS 4:3-4

Sex wasn’t a mistake God made when He was a bit distracted! God doesn’t want to wipe out your desire for some love - but He wants you to enjoy it the way He designed it. You see, when we don’t understand God’s original intent for sex, things go pear shaped! Saying ‘I’m reserving sex for marriage’ tends to drop a few jaws and leave you in the kitchen at a few parties. So what! Despite what you see in the movies and mags, when there’s physical intimacy without true commitment, count on it - ; somebody’s going to get hurt. You need to check out God’s Word, talk to your youth leader, be honest with yourself and make up your mind. And you need to do it now, you need to know where to draw the line before you get to the party/meeting place and start checking out that special someone -because then you’ve waited too late, your feelings will take control!

We all struggle at times with our sexuality, particularly in today’s culture. Sex is such a deep part of us. And guilt about sex has a way of making us feel separated from God like nothing else. So in order to determine your values and set some ground rules, you need to vow before God, ‘I’m not going to allow my impulses to dictate to me, or sin to separate me from You. I choose to keep Your standards, to rely on Your Spirit to give me strength day by day;. and if I do sin, to seek Your forgiveness, get back up and move closer to You.’ Count on it; - that’s a prayer God will answer!

Shrek the ThirdDirector: Chris Miller Co-Director: Raman Hui
Starring: Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz, Antonio Banderas, Justin Timberlake

Shrek, Donkey, Fiona, and Puss in Boots are back for a third outing but this time around the laughs are few and the plot is somewhat hazy. The original debuted six years ago and pretty much took every pot shot possible at the studio Walt Disney. The jokes were original and it was a breath of fresh air. Shrek 2 debuted in 2004 and to my surprise was just as amusing and creative as the original (if not better). It went on to become one of the highest domestic grossing films of all times (third only to Titanic and the original Star Wars).

Shrek and Fiona return to Far Far Away because Fiona’s father is dying. Shrek and Donkey have the complex task of finding Arthur, who is next in line to become king. This sets up another journey for Shrek, Donkey, and Puss in Boots and that’s when Shrek 3 is at its best because the chemistry between these characters is dynamic. Donkey and Puss in Boots are still the scene stealers of the movie and you will leave the film wanting more of the side kicks.

Spider Man 3Director: Sam Raimi
Starring: Tobey Mcguire, Kirsten Dunst, James Franco, Thomas Haden Church, Topher Grace, Dallas Bryce Howard

Everyone’s friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is back and he has his hands full in the third adaptation of the popular comic book. In addition to moonlighting at Spider-Man, Peter Park must juggle college life, freelance photographer, his Aunt May, and his relationship with Mary Jane Watson. That’s a balancing act even Spider-Man can’t juggle and his life as he knows it, soon begins to unravel. Flash back to end of Spider-Man 2; Peter and Mary Jane are finally together but Peter must leave because Spider-Man is needed. Remember Mary Jane’s facial expression as she looks out the window at Spider-Man swinging away. It was not a look of happiness, but more along the lines of disappointment. She had to come to grips that this was the life that awaits if she wanted to be with Peter. It was a foreshadowing of things to come and that’s exactly where Spider-Man 3 picks up.

I recently went to feed the homeless with my church in Downtown Dallas and posted about it at my podcast blog. I thought it was important to post it here because the homeless situation is out of hand. We’re the richest country in the world and comsume most of the world’s resources. Why can’t we solve a problem like poverty in America?

What is it going to take for people to come to the notion that there people in the United States that need aid also? I’m all for saving the world, but sometimes I feel we need to take care of home first. Check out the post and let me know what you think.

I finally got to put together a podcast with my wife and we had a good time. She’s not much of a tech junkie as I am, but she told me she enjoyed co-hosting the show. It got a little mushy at times, but that’s just us so get over it. We were able to cover the facts about our criminal justice system and do a special tribute to our moms in honor of Mother’s Day.

I normally try to post the shows on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month, but this one was a little late due to the Mother’s Day festivities. To listen to it, check out episode 22 on my podcast site and let me know what you think. Who knows, I may have to bring her back.

Inspector GadgetI was watching the Today Show a few months ago and saw a clip they put together on a Forbes editor who tried to live without his cell phone, e-mail and Blackberry for one week. The first day he was fine, but by the third day went went through withdrawls and started crying. He said he felt anxious and felt pain physically. I busted out laughing, but then I thought about it on my way to work.

How long could I live without my gadgets? No e-mail, cell phone, computer or internet usage. I don’t think so! Don’t expect me to try that experiment because “My name is Theo and I’m a Tech Junkie”. I honestly don’t think I could do it. My life is tied to using some form of technology on a daily basis. We’ve become so attached to this stuff to the point that letting go is close to impossible. How would my wife get a hold of me if she needed me? How would I communicate with my clients? I’m a computer programmer, how would I do my job?

I’ve heard people say it’s liberating to live without it. The job and friends no longer have immediate access to you. Whatever. If I don’t want to talk to you, I won’t answer my phone. While a day or two without my tech gear is needed now and then, anything too long just makes things worse. Yes, I have a problem and I’m not afraid to admit it.

How long could you live without your gadgets?

Mothers DayI just wanted to wish all the mom’s out there a Happy Mother’s Day. I hope you all took some time off from all the daily grind to treat yourselves to some rest. My son and I gave mom a break and took care of her. After church we threw some meat on the grill and cooked dinner. We had a good time. I even took some time away from the computer this weekend ;)

Welcome to the new theojohnson.net. I decided to change my site to a blog to complement what I do for the podcast blog. Here you’ll find my thoughts on everything and anything that comes to mind. I also want to test out some ways to make money through blogging.

You’ll basically see everything I wanted to do on a blog that didn’t fit with the site at podcast.theojohnson.net. Now you have two sites to visit, so be sure to check back often. Over the next few days, I’ll be testing out different themes and widgets. I welcome all comments and constructive criticism.

Holla!
